What is the NEXT Fitness Challenge?

The NEXT Fitness Challenge is a fitness and strength competition hosted within World Sports South Africa events. It is an arena based, timed challenge combining running, cardio focused work and functional strength into one continuous race.

Is NFC a competitive challenge with winners?

Yes. NFC is fully timed and judged. Each division has official results with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place podium medals. All athletes who complete the challenge receive a recognition medal for their effort.

Who is the NEXT Fitness Challenge for?

NFC is designed for everyday athletes, competitive fitness enthusiasts, elite competitors and teams. Divisions ensure athletes compete against others of similar ability.

Is NFC suitable for first time competitors?

Yes. The challenge is structured, clearly judged and designed to guide athletes through the course, making it suitable for first time competitors who choose the correct division.

What does the challenge look like on the day?

Athletes start with a 500 metre run, move through seven fixed work zones combining cardio and strength, and finish with a 1 kilometre run. The race is continuous and timed from start to finish.

How fit do I need to be to enter?

You do not need to be an elite athlete. If you train regularly and are comfortable running and lifting, there is a division suited to you.

How do I choose the right division?

Open divisions are for everyday athletes. Elite divisions are for experienced competitors seeking heavier loads and stricter standards. Team divisions allow athletes to share the workload. If unsure, the Open division is recommended.

How are loads and movements handled?

All loads and standards are scaled by division to ensure fairness, safety and competitive integrity.

Is the challenge safe?

Yes. NFC is run with professional judges, clear standards, controlled athlete flow and medical support on site.

What happens if I cannot finish?

Athletes may be time capped or moved forward by judges if required. Safety is always the priority, and results are recorded accordingly.

What equipment is used?

The challenge uses professional, competition grade fitness and strength equipment set up consistently across all divisions.

Can spectators watch?

Yes. NFC is designed as a spectator friendly arena challenge. Friends and family are welcome to watch and support athletes.

What do athletes receive?

All finishers receive a completion reward. Podium athletes receive 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals in their division.

Is NFC a standalone event?

No. NFC takes place inside World Sports South Africa alongside other sports, activations, spectators and media. Athletes compete as part of a larger national sports platform.

How does entry and ticketing work?

To compete, athletes must visit the NFC tickets page and complete the mandatory competition form. After agreeing to the terms and submitting the form, a new window will open showing the available compete tickets based on the selected division. Athletes then choose the appropriate ticket and complete the purchase.

What do compete tickets include?

A compete ticket includes full access to the World Sports South Africa event for the duration of the competition. VIP areas are excluded unless a separate VIP ticket is purchased.

How do I check in on event day?

After purchasing a compete ticket, athletes receive a confirmation and a QR code. The QR code is scanned at the event for access and athlete check in.
